Beans & Fatback are back with their signature driving rock & roll sound, blended with powerful garage rock, drawing inspiration from artists like Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, New York Dolls, Eagles of Death Metal, and Lou Reed. Hold Fast, the new album from the Amsterdam-based band led by Onno Smit and Paul Willemsen, is their first release in ten years. The record is a raw tribute to the unrestrained energy of the late-'70s New York post-punk scene.
Hold Fast is not an album for campfire singalongs. It’s a musical battle, a fever dream, a rollercoaster that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The songs hit with relentless force. While the raw vocals pull you into stories of temptation, loss, and resilience, the unpolished guitars and driving drums create a sonic cocktail that grabs you by the throat and won’t let go.
Hold Fast is the long-awaited follow-up to their successful albums With Skin Attached and Heroine Lovestruck, which, in addition to the Netherlands, were especially well-received in the USA. Tracks from both albums have been featured more than 50 times in American TV series, films, and commercials. Onno Smit and Paul Willemsen have been collaborating for over 20 years in bands such as Lefties Soul Connection, Michelle David & The True-Tones, Beans & Fatback, and the New Amsterdam Rhythm Band.
